Discover the 'Magusto da Velha,' a unique tradition in Aldeia Viçosa held annually on December 26th. Legend tells of a wealthy old woman who left a legacy to the church, stipulating that chestnuts and wine be shared annually for her soul's repose. Today, around 150 kg of chestnuts are thrown from the church bell tower, creating a lively scramble for attendees. Roasted chestnuts are enjoyed, often over the embers of the Christmas bonfire, accompanied by 150 liters of red wine. The event also features the playful 'As Cavaladas' tradition.
